So, how should I set up my email world?
The following is general discussion on actions to take when you start a new web site and want to take full advantage of the email features.

How?

  • setup at least one domain-name based POP account - the account where you will actually check for mail. Crestone Creations sets this up for you at your request for a small fee. ($25 as of January 1, 2008)
  • turn on a server-based SPAM filter! To check your spam filter configurations, log in to your control panel. Instructions for that are at this page - click here.
  • take a pre-emptive step against spam with our most professional spam filtering system - click here to sign up ($4.95/month/POP account)
  • setup "Rules" with your email software on your computer to redirect the Spam & Junk to your local trash or deleted items. - for more on Rule setup, click here.
  • if you are a domain manager, we suggest that in the global mail preferences for the domain that you set Mail to nonexistent user" to Bounce" - with "Bounce" set in this field all unassigned email will be returned to sender. This should drastically reduce spam in your life.

Why

... do you want to do all this?
                   Identity & Branding!
You want people to learn your domain name and visit you / your web site and not be drawn to the name of your ISP or to a yahoo account.
