Email setup in a Nutshell

QUICK START eMail setup

When setting up your email on your device (computer, phone, tablet, etc.) you will be first asked IMAP or POP.  We suggest: IMAP for the best user experience. We further suggest choosing the SSL when prompted.

I have found some people have trouble where they have a different authentication method selected instead of just “password” … eg. APOP  Do not choose APOP – change this to “Password” for the authentication method.

username: – this is where you put your FULL email address given to you by Crestone Creations for the account you are setting up.

password: Passwords are case sensitive.
We suggest you copy and paste your password – but highlight CAREFULLY so as not to copy “invisible” characters like spaces at the end.

IMPORTANT! re 2nd SMTP server: if you are setting up a 2nd email account (eg. your ISP email + the email with Crestone Creations / your domain) please note that each account will require it’s own SMTP entry.  Do not edit nor delete the existing in-play SMTP.  Add a new one for your new account.

TIPS:

Whatever you put into the “Your Name” field will show up in the “From” line of the recipient’s email address.

If you prefer, you can avoid the computer setup & use webmail.  Just go to:
http://yourdomain.com/webmail
… and, of course, repeating, <yourdomain.com> is replaced with YOUR domain name.whatever – such as crestonecreations.com, saguache.org :)

If you don’t want to deal with this and just want to have it happen, we can remotely control your computer and do the work for you (you authorize us on a one-time basis for access and can watch as we do the installation.  Once you disconnect our access is terminated).  Of course, the operative words & phrases are “work” and “your computer” so this is billable time :)  To arrange an appointment (for this or any other support/training you need) please contact us!  Otherwise, use the Do-It-Yourself solutions found on this page.
